Illegal Substances

The following substances are currently banned by the Star Chamber in Lalenth:

Lingering Malady: This poison must be ingested for at least three days before it takes effect, and dosage must been maintained for the effect to continue. The victim begins to show symptoms of a fever which will incapacitate them but not kill; these include high temperature, vomiting, headaches and disorientation.

Atlas’ Burden: Whoever ingests the poison develops extreme fatigue and becomes too tired to do anything at all. One dose will last six hours.

Sui-cider: This mostly alcohol and apple based poison renders the victim completely unable to form coherent speech or hold a pen with any degree of dexterity. As a side effect the victim veers between merriment and maudlin.

Thalia’s Bounty: The victim laughs hysterically and unceasingly until they are unable to do anything other than lie on the floor and try to breath. The potion lasts until the victim falls unconscious through asphyxiation, which is normally after 4 minutes. It will take them around half an hour to recover.

Grip: This is a nasty poison that kills within 25 seconds regardless of personal stamina. The victims fall into a violent seizure, froth at the mouth and suffer total organ failure. It is impossible to glean any additional information from the corpse as the poison liquefies the innards. This poison must be ingested to kill, but if it contacts the skin it will burn painfully and dye the affected area black.

Daze: slang – Blue Star, drift: This highly addictive and expensive drug induces a state of euphoria and supreme self confidence. Whilst using it the user does not suffer from fatigue and physical pain is dulled. The down side is that when the drug runs out, the user experiences terrible withdrawal symptoms. To avoid these, they must dose every 24 hours.

Cassadra’s Veil: This poison is essentially a variation on Potion of Mnemosyne with an unpleasant twist. Once ingested, the victim not only forgets the last 10 minutes, but becomes highly receptive to suggestion. This means that once the old memory has been erased, it is a simple matter to implant a new one, by confidently telling the victim what has just happened. As a side effect the victim becomes extremely paranoid.
